SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION

In San Antonio: The Alamo fell March 6, 1836, despite the bravery of Scots-Irish fighters like Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie.

I thought this was rather humorous-I wanted to title today's BLOG Happy St. Patricks Day-I typed in St. Patrick Day photos into my search engine and this photo popped up- Hence my six degrees of separation title- Who knew that Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie were Scots-Irish fighters. I do not think "Irish" when I think of the Alamo! The connection here is that I was born in San Antonio and have been in the Alamo more times then I care to reveal. Yet I did not hear this tidbit of information while on the tour-perhaps I was in the basement during that part-"Silly-there's no basement in the Alamo" (Sorry we love Pee Wee Herman for those of you that don't get that rent Pee Wees Big Adventure (You know in San Antonio they turn their riverwalk water in downtown GREEN for St Patricks Day!!! There is a lot of green beer- and you just get that feeling of wanting to say "Top o" the mornin' to ya' young lad" to everyone you come across. I know that there are a lot of people who do corned beef and sauerkraut on this lovely day but what do the Irish Catholic do when St. Patty's Day falls on a Friday during Lent?????
Perhaps they wait and celebrate @ midnight!!!

We will be celebrating at church for our weekly Friday night fish fry! Joining a large group of friends and all of their children.
What could be better then ALL YOU CAN EAT fried fish & beer. Of course all of the children usually eat the CHEESE pizza. But I say when in Rome or the Alamo do as the Romans would do or the Irish or Davy and Jim!!

In today's paper the Chicago Tribune in the tempo section 5 page 2 ASK AMY was quite interesting to me. I think I am going to have to email her. AMY that is. I do not care for her advice or what she implied to the mom about her daughters MYSPACE web page. and more so how her daughter even got one. I do support the mom that wrote in - it is as if she took the words right out of my mouth. My guess is that AMY does not have a teenager. I think anyone that knows me knows my struggles with the whole MYSPACE issues and how concerned I am as to why so many kids still have their "inappropriate content" on the web. All schools and news and newspapers have alerted parents to the facts. CHECK YOUR KIDS SITES!!!! The sadness for me is that I do not think our kids will "get it" until something happens to someone they know. Which is so sad. Talk to your kids check your computers for our children it is if this is a secret society on a public web page. They just don't get it.

I actually do have many many six degrees of separation stories-I'd like to touch on a future BLOG-I do not believe in coincidences-I love to hear the stories about these "GOD WINKS" (that's a book) moments in all our lives. As TESS put in a passed blog of mine an OXY CLEAN moment (explanation to follow).

The fellows in question were Scots-Irish not Irish.

That means they would want you to wear Orange on St. Patrick's day.

Ulster Forever!

No surrender!

Irish out of Ulster now!
